After the resignation of board member Angie Swiger on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, the Baldwin County Board of Education announced the vacancy among its membership for the seat representing District 5, which includes Orange Beach.
On Dec. 6, the board of education officially provided the citizens of Baldwin County notice of the vacancy and further provided notice that the vacancy will be filled by appointment by a majority of the remaining members of the Baldwin County Board of Education. The appointee will hold office until the expiration of the current District 5 term in November of 2020.
Residents of District 5 may express their interest in this position by notifying the secretary for the Baldwin County Board of Education, Louise Coe, in writing, no later than 3:30 p.m. on December 15, 2017. Interested individuals are asked to provide all supporting documentation such as resumes and/or cover letters in one submission. Notices provided by mail shall be by certified mail and must be postmarked on or before December 13, 2017. Faxes with confirmation receipts on or before 3 p.m. on December 15, 2017 shall be considered timely submitted. Individuals must receive a confirmation email on or before 3 p.m. on December 15, 2017 for email submissions to be considered timely. It is anticipated that the board will conduct interviews for select applicants on January 4, 2018 at 4 p.m. at a location to be determined.
