Just like our King

Over 500 years before Christ comes to deliver humanity, the prophet Zechariah speak of His coming in the 9th chapter of his book, Zechariah, and the 9th verse:

‘Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.’

It wasn’t just an announcement of a coming king; it was an announcement of what kind of king is coming.

This king was not a corrupt king or a selfish king.  NO!  This king was righteous.

This king was not prideful or self-serving king.  NO!  This king was humble.

In declaring what the king was going to be like, Zechariah was also revealing how this king’s kingdom would operate.    It would operate in the same manner as the king Himself.

This kingdom that this king would rule over would be righteous and humble.  And those of us who would live in the kings kingdom would be required to live righteously humbly.

Then, placed in the middle of those 2 ideals, we find out that this king and His kingdom of righteousness and humility would be victorious.  It would not be able to be put down or snuffed out.  This kingdom could not and would not lose.  It would and always will win.

Today, as we celebrate our King…the KING OF KINGS, let us evaluate the way we live.

Are we seeking a life of righteousness and humility, just like our King?
