St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, which is a good thing for those wanting to imbibe a little more than usual. There are a few cool places to get your Irish on this St. Pat’s Day, but here are a few events you’ll want to mark your calendar. From Gulf Shores to downtown Pensacola, snowbirds, locals and vacationers will celebrate all things Irish. So, pull out your loudest Irish getup and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day island style.

Papa Rocco’s annual Pub Crawl

More than 1,000 people will gather at Papa Rocco’s in Gulf Shores for the annual Gulf Shores St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl. This Irish parade attracts snowbirds, locals and a few vacationers. The party begins at Bill McGinnes’ famous eatery. Led by Champion Windsor Canadian Police Pipe Band, the procession heads south along Gulf Shores Parkway at 9:30 a.m. and ends near 2 p.m. at Mikee’s Seafood. There’s about a dozen stops along this march, and happens rain or shine. But the Irish bash continues at Papa Rocco’s. Pace yourself for this St. Pat’s Day parade. O’Choppers Irish shindig

Once you survive the Gulf Shores St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl, head off the beach highway into Orange Beach for the island’s biggest Irish shindig for O’Choppers annual St. Patrick’s Day Party. This event typically draws locals who gather at a true Irish pub for a day of authentic live Irish music, corned beef and cabbage and plenty of green beer. This St. Pat’s Day party goes well into the night. Location: 25910 Canal Rd, Orange Beach.

Get your green on at the Flora-Bama

Now, the ‘Bama doesn’t necessarily have an official St. Patrick’s Day event, but should you find yourself at the world famous watering hole on the Florida-Alabama state line, then it’s likely you’ll be in good company on St. Patrick’s Day. Since St. Pat’s falls on a Saturday, the ‘Bama should be teeming with hundreds of folks celebrating their inner Irish – whether you’re Irish or not. McGuire’s Irish Pub

In downtown Pensacola  thousand of people will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at McGuire’s Irish Pub. The party begins at 11 a.m. with live entertainment by Rich McDuff and friends, Colm Kelly, and the McGuire’s Bag Pipe Band. Fuel up with some authentic Irish food, Irish Wakes, green beer and lots of parting all day and night until the wee hours. Location: 600 E. Gregory Street, Pensacola, Fla.
