Most parking in downtown Pensacola will be free next week, as officials hope to make it easier for shoppers to visit downtown businesses in the week leading up to Christmas.
Metered street parking spaces and surface lots managed by the Downtown Improvement Board will be free from Sunday, December 17 through Christmas Day. An inventory of downtown parking is available at pensacolaparking.com.
The so-called “Parking Amnesty Week” began in 2015 as an effort to promote downtown shops and galleries for holiday shopping and increase awareness of underutilized surface lots, officials said.
“We have more than 100 local shops and galleries in Downtown Pensacola bursting with an eclectic mix of gifts for everyone on your list,” said Downtown Improvement Board executive director Curt Morse. “And from December 17-25 we’re spreading cheer one of the best ways we know: free parking!”
