The City of Orange Beach will begin registration for the 2018 season of baseball and softball on Jan. 22 at the Orange Beach Recreation Center.

This will be the city’s first season running the programs after the Orange Beach Sports Association voted to shift the management of youth baseball and softball to the city.

“The staff at the sportsplex is really excited about the opportunity to run the baseball and softball programs this season,” Orange Beach Athletics Director Laura Davis said. “We expect practices to begin at the end of February, and Opening Day is set for March 17. Our big upgrade on the front five fields at the sportsplex, which includes new backstops, dugouts, fencing, and shade structures, will be completed in a couple of weeks, and we are looking forward to having our local kids and parents be the first on the fields when it reopens.”
