It’s a good time to be a kid at the beach. With school out for the summer, the activity camps for the kiddos are popping up everywhere! Whether your child is a drama queen, a scientist, an artist, or enjoys playing with zoo animals, the beach has just the right camp for them to have the best summer ever!

 

AMC CLASSIC Summer Movie Camp

When: Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

Where: AMC Classic Wharf 15, 23151 Wharf Ln., Orange Beach

Price: $4 plus tax.

AMC is officially kicking off the 2018 summer movie-going season with the start AMC CLASSIC Summer Movie Camp. For eight weeks beginning on June 6, moviegoers in the Baldwin County and Northwest Florida community can enjoy a ticket to the family-favorite film of the week and an AMC Kids Pack, including popcorn, fountain drink and fruit snacks, all summer long. AMC CLASSIC Summer Movie Camp is through August 1 at AMC CLASSIC Wharf 15.

Ocean Camp: Lego Camps

When: Tuesdays-Fridays; June 5 – June 10; 9 a.m.-noon or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: 4776 Main Street L210,  Orange Beach

Price: $125 Half Day or $225 Full Day

Ages: 5-8

Lego Camp will focus on problem solving, creativity and following directions to build ocean related models.  Campers will  practice cooperative learning with partners, organization and enjoy a sense of accomplishment.

 

Ocean Camp Scientists Explorers

When: Tuesdays-Fridays; June 12 – June 15  from 1-4 p.m.

Where: The Wharf, Orange Beach -2nd floor beside BREAKOUT

Ages: 9-12

Scientist Explorers will engage in activities real scientists use to explore marine life and the ocean including research, microscopes, animal behavior observations and anatomy. Call 251-968-7576 for more information.

Kidcam

When: May 29 – August 3
Where: Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores
Ages: 5-9 / 10-13

Part of what makes kids so special is that they each march to the beat of their own drum. With Kid’s Choice from KIDCAM, Summer campers are free to pick their own passions. For select activity periods each day, counselors will pitch a variety of age-appropriate activities that are fresh, engaging and fun. Kids explore new interests or choose to master a skill. When given a choice, campers gain a sense of ownership and empowerment, building skills in decision making, flexibility, patience and problem-solving, all while enjoying a summer that rocks.
Gear pick up and Open House on May 25 4:30-6 p.m. inside Activity Center Campground.

 

SummerTide Drama Camp

When: June 5 – June 23
Where: South Baldwin Community Theatre

SummerTide Drama Camp returns to South Baldwin Community Theatre for its annual three-week session of summer camp for young people beginning June 5. The camp is conducted by the University of Alabama’s SummerTide Theatre group.

Zoo Camp

When: June 25-June 29; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Where: Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
Ages: 5-11

Zoo Camp is offered to all elementary school age children and is conducted by licensed teachers and trained volunteers. Campers will explore animal life here at the Zoo, partake in animal enrichment activities, meet our zoo keepers, and even greet some of our animal residents personally. They will also participate in age-specific games, arts and crafts projects and special zoo-related events. There will be plenty of hands-on educational and fun activities carried out in a safe and educational environment.
Zoo Camp is a collaborative effort within our community to create a rewarding, educational, and fun experience for everyone.

 

Kaliedescope

When: June 25-June 29; 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Where:First Presbyterian Church, Gulf Shores
Ages: 2nd through 8th Grade
Cost: $115 and $100 for siblings

Featuring hands-on classes in visual art mediums, theater, music, dance and the humanities, the camp offers an extraordinary encounter with the world of fine arts. A live performance given by a national/regional artist ends each day.
Daily hands-on classes, taught by professional artists and instructors, will include a choice of several Visual Art, Dance, Writing, Music and Drama/Theater classes. Instructors at this year’s camp are Jamie Adams (Pottery), Tommy Vogel (Pastels), Cindy Langston (Mixed Media), Kevin Cobb (Painting), Jamie Parks (Dance), Pam Winstead, Karan Fox and Willie Anderson (Musical Theater).
