Dozens of tall ships will swoop into Pensacola this weekend. The festival, which includes Tall Ship tours, a watch party, VIP events and more, kicks off today and will run through Sunday in downtown Pensacola.

An awe-inspiring moment for all, The Parade of Sails is the first event on the docket for the weekend. Set to begin at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, all six ships will cruise into Pensacola at full-sail. The route will begin approximately at the Pensacola Lighthouse and end at Commendencia Slip. Patrons wanting to sneak a view at the majestic vessels will have many vantage points to do so such as Fort Pickens and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park, waterfront restaurants such as Nick’s Boathouse and Jaco’s Bayfront Bar & Grill, and Palafox Pier.

The real bread and butter of the weekend, onboard ship tours. Guests will have the opportunity to tour four static ship displays from all over the world, the Elissa, Oliver Hazard Perry, Picton Castle, and the Oosterschelde. Onboard ship tours will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Members of the crew will be stationed around various parts of the vessel to answer any questions you may have. Tickets for the onboard tours include festival access.

Set to take place along Commendencia Slip and Plaza De Luna, event goers can expect a wide array of entertainment spanning the weekend including vendors, educational booths, food and live music. Gates to the festival will open at 10 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Tickets to the festival do not include onboard ship tours.
