Who says it’s safe out of the water? The sharks are circling and ready to attack in Perdido Key at the 6th Annual 2019 Flora-Bama Shark Run on Thursday, July 4th from 7 am to 11 am.
Participants can choose the 4 mile All Road Race where they will run along the Gulf on a flat road course. The run is a flat one, but with the heat of the July sun beating down, it will still be challenging.
Or if you’re feeling extra adventurous, jump in with the sharks at the Adventure Run, a 2 mile road run, followed by a 2.5 mile beach run. But there’s a twist! Runners will be equipped with a flag football belt throughout the race. Once they enter the beach course portion of the race, “sharks” will try to attack and steal the runner’s flags.
Participants will have a chance to recover their flags from the “sharks”, and must have all their flags in tact upon crossing the finish line to be eligible for awards. New this year, there is a Killer SHARK Jaws age group awards medals for the 4 mile road race and the 4.5 mile adventure run.
Want to play with the “wildlife”, but can’t run 4.5 mile? Then try the 1 Mile Adventure Run where you will compete solely on the beach course, running for your life from the hungry “sharks”.
All participants will receive a finishers medal, and the first 400 to register will receive a Sublimated Running singlet which will be available in Male and Female sizing/cuts. But everyone that does any of these races will get a shirt.
The Race will start at 7:00 am. Packet pick-up and late registration will be Tuesday July 3rd from 4-7 pm at the Flora-Bama, and Race Day from 6 – 6:45 am. After the race there will be refreshments and Free Beer. Stick around for all the events happening along the coast this 4th of July!
Entry fees for the 4 Mile All Road Run and the Walking 4 Mile Competitive Walk is $39, and fees for the 4.5 Adventure Run is $48. The 1 mile run is $24.
