The Baldwin Pops present an evening of music from all eras of music with their John Allen Memorial Scholarship Concert on Thursday, February 7th at 7 pm at the Orange Beach Event Center, located at 4671 Wharf Parkway West, in Orange Beach.
The Baldwin Pops is comprised of volunteer musicians dedicated to providing free concerts to the public in an effort to enhance the cultural atmosphere along the Gulf Coast. The concert, benefiting The John Allen Memorial Scholarship, which provides funding for Summer Music Camp, as well as, college scholarships, will feature music from all genres including Classical, Broadway, Big Band, Dixieland, Jazz and Marches to name a few.
Scholarships are awarded based on an audition process to high school seniors who demonstrate the spirit and outstanding qualities exemplified by John W. Allen to assist in their pursuit of music at the collegiate level. Allen was a Baldwin Pops member whose spirit exemplified life-long learning, having starting to play Tuba at age 72. In honor of his spirit and tenacity, three students are awarded the prestigious honor each year.
The event is free but seating is limited, so get there early. For more information on the Baldwin Pops John Allen Memorial Scholarship Concert, visit or call Anne Brooks at 251-232-1013.
