Few things go together like winter weather, the Super Bowl, and chili. Hearty foodies can get their fill at the 25th Annual Flora-Bama “Super” Bowl Chili Cook-Off, Saturday, February 2nd from 10 am to 3 pm.
Some of the best chili recipes from all over the country will be cooking up slow thanks to the spirited teams from north, south, near, and far that will be competing for the title. Teams of three will have a chance to showcase their one-of-a kind concoctions in categories like Best Overall Chili, People’s Choice, and Best Dressed.
Cooking begins at 10 am. All teams must provide a minimum 5 gallons of chili, and teams are to supply all cooking utensils, pots, burners, and ingredients. All teams must be willing to eat your own chili, and all participants must be at least 21 years of age to participate. No outside alcoholic beverages will be allowed, however they will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Entry fee for teams wishing to participate in the Cook-Off is $25 per 3-Man team, and includes 3 event t-shirts, draft beer, plus other party favors. Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place – Perpetual Trophy and $100 Cash
People’s Choice – Perpetual Trophy and $99 Cash
2nd Place – Ribbon and $75 Cash
3rd Place – Ribbon and $50 Cash
And for the first time, Best State of Chili, where state snowbird clubs will compete for a new Perpetual State Trophy as well as an award for the Best Decorated Booth.

Maybe cooking isn’t your thing but you still want to get in on all the best chili that the Emerald Coast has to offer. Then head over to the big top for a fabulous tasting. Tickets start being sold and tasting begins at 12 pm. Tickets are $20 per person and includes a draft beer and unlimited chili samples.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life.
This is event is fun for the whole family. Annual Chili Cook Off Participant and local resident, John Sheffield, said of the event, “My team participates each year, and it’s something we all look forward to. It’s a great way for people of all ages from all over the country to join together and compete in a friendly competition that ends up with everyone full and happy with the best chili recipes around. It’s the best way to kick off the Super Bowl weekend.”
