The Navy League of Mobile and the Alabama State Port Authority will host this year’s Mardi Gras Ship at the Authority’s Pier 2 Terminal. The USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58) is a Flight II Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser homeported in Mayport, Florida, and operates under the motto “Eternal Vigilance.”

Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the ship’s welcoming celebration beginning at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2018. Gates open at 9:30 a.m.. This year’s welcome celebration will feature the local high school JROTC units, the Murphy High School Band, the Azalea Trail Maids, USS ALABAMA Crewmates and local dignitaries. Access to the welcoming ceremony is through the Alabama State Port Authority’s temporary Pier 2 gate located at the north end of Arthur Outlaw Convention Center on Water Street.

The Navy League of Mobile is also pleased to announce the USCGC JACOB POROO will visit Mobile for Mardi Gras beginning on Friday, Feb. 9 through Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. The USCGC JACOB POROO will be moored at Gulf Quest National Maritime Museum located south of Cooper Riverside Park in downtown Mobile. The newly commissioned ship is the second Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters assigned to Pascagoula, Mississippi. These ships measure 154 feet in length, reach speeds of 28+ knots and have a range of 2,500 nautical miles.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Mardi Gras Day, Tuesday (Feb 10 – 13) between the hours of 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The gate entrance is located on the north side of the Mobile Convention Center on Water St.

Saturday, Feb. 10 beginning at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
